This region was chosen for its particular scientific interests such as: seismicity, topography, turbidity, biodiversity, water mass dynamics and organic matter flow.  This underwater observation network is located close by KM3NeT (https://www.km3net.org/) (external link) which has a modular topology designed to connect up to 120 neutrino detection units. Earth and Sea Science (ESS) instrumentation at the EMSO-WL station is based on two complementary components: an instrumented interface module (MII) and an autonomous instrumented line (ALBATROSS) as well as a junction box (BJS). Installed on the seafloor 1.5km off the coast of Spiddal, the observatory uses cameras, probes and sensors to permit continuous and remote live underwater monitoring. Data relating to the marine environment at the site is transferred in real-time from the SmartBay Observatory through a fibre optic telecommunications cable to the Marine Institute headquarters and then made publicly available on the internet.\n\nA CONTROS HydroC CO2 sensor is installed on the observatory infrastructure. This dataset comprises of the measurements taken from the sensor, which measures the partial pressure of CO2 in the seawater.\n\ncdm_data_type = TimeSeries\nVARIABLES:\nmidgid (Marine Institute Data Granule Identifier, Not applicable)\nSeaVox_SeaArea (SeaVox Sea-Area, Not applicable)\nSeaVox_SeaArea_urn (SeaVox Sea-Area code value, Not applicable)\nICES_ecoregion (Not applicable)\nICES_area (Not applicable)\nICES_statistical_rectangle (Not applicable)\nMSFD_region (Marine Strategy Framework Directive region, Not applicable)\nWFD_waterbody_type (Water Framework Directive waterbody type, Not applicable)\nWFD_waterbody_name (Water Framework Directive waterbody name, Not applicable)\nSWD_shellfish_waterbody (Shellfish Water Directive shellfish water, Not applicable)\ncomp4_assessment_area_name (OSPAR Comp4 Assessment Area Name, Not applicable)\ntransect (Named transect of repeat stations, Not applicable)\nstation_id (Station name, Not applicable)\nsite_bathy_depth (sea floor depth below sea surface, m)\ninstrument_id (Not applicable)\ndata_modified (Date and time the data fields were last modified, seconds since 1970-01-01T00:00:00Z)\ntime (time of measurement, seconds since 1970-01-01T00:00:00Z)\n...
